On November 5, 1968, Montclair Place opened as a landmark development: the first enclosed shopping mall in San Bernardino County. The original design comprised 69 retailers within 600,000 square feet spread across a 120-acre site with parking for 6,000 automobiles, a substantial investment of $50 million. The second level added more than 600,000 additional square feet and opened on October 30, 1985, doubling the shopping center's capacity and establishing it as the regional shopping anchor.

Today, Montclair Place spans 1.2 million square feet and has been modernized to reflect contemporary retail and entertainment preferences. The center features a 55,000-square-foot AMC DINE-IN Theatre complex with IMAX 3D and 12 auditoriums, alongside a food hall with diverse cuisines—American, Chinese, Mediterranean, Hawaiian, and Mexican—reflecting the area's diverse community. The site's prominent location near Interstate 10 has made it one of the most visible and accessible shopping destinations in the region.

A thriving shopping and entertainment district signals economic health for surrounding neighborhoods. When families and workers in Montclair have accessible retail, dining, and recreation options, the community becomes more stable and attractive to residents planning for the long term—exactly the kind of neighborhood where a multi-decade insurance plan makes sense.
